Norman Cherner studied and taught at the Columbia University Fine Arts Department and was an instructor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 1947 to 1949. At the same time he also began his practice, embarking on a lifetime exploration of multidisciplinary design.  more

The Cherner Chair Company

Cherner's sons, Benjamin and Thomas formed the Cherner Chair Company in 1999 to manufacture and market some of the most influential and well recognized designs  from their father's portfolio spanning almost 50 years.  As an architect and furniture designer, Ben was constantly asked by other architects to reissue his father's designs. Together, they have answered the call and brought their father's most popular designs back into production.    more
